Prodigal God.

Relate to this story if you can;

There once lived a very wealthy man who had it all, he could get anything he wanted in the world, men were at his command and he lacked nothing. This man had a son, his only child whom he loved so dearly, the man spent all his time with his son, teaching, encouraging and having endless episodes of laughter… He spent all his time and wealth loving the son; put him in charge of everything he had, gave him authority to use his name anywhere and everywhere.
One day, the Father came down to spend time with his son as he often did only to find the son dinning with his worst enemy…he was extremely relaxed in his father’s enemy’s company, sharing the jokes the father had shared with him, showing him all his father’s inheritance, wealth and telling all of the father’s secret and plans with this enemy. Bit by bit, the son was sharing his inheritance and gifts from his father with the enemy, this continued till he eventually gave the enemy the all he had received from the father, the enemy took all the goodies and swiftly walked away. With nothing left, no hope or future, the child ran away in shame….leaving his father devastated. The father was hurt, not because he gave away his authority and inheritance away but because he ran away in shame from the abundance of love he had to shower on him. The father waited in worry, panic and sadness for His child to return, day turned into weeks, months, years even but there was still no sign of the son. Every day, at the usual time the father went down to visit the son’s abode in the hopes of finding him there, the father would wait till dark for his beloved son to return home but the son was no where to be found.
On a particular day, the son eventually came home. The father in his gladness, ran towards his son, hugged, kissed and held on to him and did not let go. The father repeatedly told the son how much He loves him and how much He has missed spending time with his son. The son tried apologizing but the father did not see it important; all that mattered to him was that HE CAME BACK. That Father in that story sound so much like God the Father, your father. After Adam sold out his authority to the devil, and Adam felt ashamed to fellowship with God,( Genesis 3:9). God the Father was sad because Adam lost the boldness to fellowship with him as a son and spend time in God’s presence. God desires a fellowship with you… He wants to spend time with you, he wants to lavish His love and attention on you… Just like that Father (in our story did his son). God The Father loves you dearly more than you can ever imagine. After the fall of Adam, people tried to get back to their sonship with God but the sin nature had taken them over and they had to sacrifice the blood of bulls and goats so they could be acceptable to God.( Hebrews 13:13). For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh. But the blood of Bulls and Goats wasn’t sufficient, never would have been… But the Father still desired that Fellowship with you, but He knew there was no two ways about it but by sending Jesus Christ as the final sacrifice for your sin… Hebrews 9:10-12; But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption’. Voila, problem solved…you have your place back as a child of God and you are free to fellowship with God without shame or fear, Jesus took all your shame and guilt of sin away when he died for you on the cross. The father can now spend all his attention on you as he has always loved to, you can now use His Authority ‘THE NAME OF JESUS’ because you are have been reunited with your Father, the creator of heaven and the earth.
The Father wants to lavish you carelessly with his love and attention, He wants you to be able to come to Him without any shame holding you back, without any restraint. He is mindful of you and always wants to be with you, talk to you, hold you by your hand and direct you, help you move mountains and cross hurdles. Your father really wants to be there for you at every point of your life, He is patiently waiting for the even the faintest image of your shadow so he can run to you and carry you off the ground and spend His totality on you. Your Father is a reckless spender, and it is all because of His Love for you, He is willing to lavish His totality on you. He is a Prodigal God who wouldn’t hesitate to spend it all on you. ( John 3:16).

Forward Step: ( Say these words to your Father because He longs to hear from you and waits patiently on you) Abba Father, I realize that you are mindful of me and you love me without measures, help me stay conscious of your love, help me remember even in the hardest times how dearly you love me. Help me use my authority as a son maximally in Jesus’s name, Amen.
