Why do we need to pray? Is there anytime we won’t need to pray anymore? Why does it have to be so serious anyways? Does God really hear me pray? Does he care to listen? When do I get my answers? My unanswered prayers, what do I do about them? When is it okay to give up?. These questions, I have asked myself at several points in my life because, I did not quite understand the mystery of praying and why it is so important.
At every point I questioned praying, this childhood song came to my head ‘Prayer is the master key, Jesus started and ended with prayers… is the master key’. This song later taught me that even Jesus in all his Jesusness needed to pray every time and at every point in his life to live a glorious life, Matthew 14:23…..’And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray’. Jesus lived a prayed life, and He is our perfect model to live like God wants us to, Luke 6:12….’In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God, Luke 5:12…..’So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.’
Prayer is the key to the quality life that God has for you, God expects you to pray every time and not just when you need to access a need. Prayer is essential to growth, it’s to your advantage that you pray often and communicate with God. Let me remind of another Sunday school song
‘read your bible, pray everyday.’
Forward step: make a conscious effort to take a few mins everyday to spend time praying.
