Pray series 4

Our Lord’s Prayer (Matt 6:5-10)
While teaching about Prayer to us his followers, Jesus thought a couple of things that we can say to be guidelines for praying;

•Finding a place for prayer; try and find a place where you can meet with God without being disturbed, distracted or interrupted by anything or anyone at all. If you must, switch off your phone and spend alone time with your God in prayers.

•Pray in accordance with the word of God: That’s is all you need in life. Find a scripture that pertains to whatever you want to pray about, stand on it and pray with it…Mattew 6:7 ‘And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

•The Prayer attitude; God knows what you want before you ask Him, the right attitude is necessary when talking to your father in heaven. Imagine a child goes to his earthly father, talking disrespectfully and without regards, the father will most likely not listen to the child. Think about your Heavenly Father as your earthly father. Thank God, God is more than our earthly father and God doesn’t relate with us based on feelings, we probably would not have been anything. Approach your father with a thankful heart, genuinely thankful for who He is and what He has done for you, even though things might not be working out, you still have 1000 and 1 reasons to thank God. Be grateful to God and approach Him in prayers as such.

•Ask God for belief that He has given you everything you need for life and godliness…..James 1:6-8 ‘But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do’.

•Ask according to HIS will; 1 John 5:14….’This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him’.

•Please stay in Faith: A double minded man will not get anything from God. It is going to be your loss if you don’t believe in God’s word as the final authority on every situation that you come up against. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Keep pumping the word into your heart, keep believing, keep confessing the word even when things don’t look like.
