Helloooo! It’s been a minute that you heard me through your screens. How was your week? It’s the 10th month of the year, I trust your year has been amazing. If it hasn’t been too amazing, please know that God loves you, nothing can change that and everything, the trial, the hardship and the disappointment still work together for our good.
Remember how the Israelites were trapped in Egypt as slaves and God gave them the promise of the Canaan land and how He did so many wonders just to bring them out of Egypt and get them to start journeying to the promised land and it took years to get to?( Exodus 16) . The Israelites after they got out of Egypt, on their way to the promised land, fear kicked in for them, they started grumbling at the sight of a better promise than slavery. Uncertainty crippled their minds and they thought about going back. Remember how God led them through their fears, showing up for them one need at a time, from parting the Red Sea to giving them manna, to giving them water, the war with the Amalekites and so on. The Israelites were not really on their best behavior even when they were on the journey to the promised land and I remember asking myself a couple of times before now why they could not just see that God was for them and was journeying with them and why they couldn’t just enjoy the blessings of God while he leads them to the promise. I know you also are thinking of how ungrateful the Israelites were and how why they could not keep their postures right. The truth is, we are like the Israelites with the same attitude they had while on the journey to the Canaan land. Lol.. I’m not judging you, just stay with me okay?
God has given you a promise about a better life because you are with him. He brought you out of darkness of not knowing him and you are expecting everything to be fine since it’s God right? That’s the only thing that makes sense right? And right now, nothing seems like it makes sense! So you have your mouth pouted and your chin in your hands, asking yourself, “why me?!” My friend, you are an Israelite. It’s not particularly a horrible thing to be, I’m often an Israelite till the Holy Spirit helps me see clearly.
One of the things to expect when you are expecting the fulfillment of a promise from God is, it’s not always a bed of roses. John 16:33; These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” That the road is rough certainly doesn’t mean that it’s not God. Jesus in-fact told us about the hardships in the world and the peace in him. Jesus while on earth, being the express image of the Father had difficulties even though he was right at the center of God’s will for his life. He had to face a storm, he had to deal with people trying to kill him by throwing him off the cliff, he had difficulties even though he was God in the flesh. So count it all joy when your faith is tested. That it’s rough, doesn’t mean it’s not God. “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.( James 1:2)
Another thing to look out for when you are expecting is DISTRACTIONS! The devil knows you are expecting the fulfillment of God’s promise and the devil is not your friend so be certain that he will do anything to distract you, like bring things that look like the promise but with conditions. The devil is a mastermind that giving gifts that will make you compromise . He never gives without taking and he always gives dust covered in gold kind of gifts. It happened with the Israelites when Moses went up to get the commandments and before he came back, his people created an idol to worship. What a perfect distraction! The Israelites were brought out of Egypt by God and because they thought God wasn’t with them, they created their own god. It also happened with Jesus, after feeding the 5,000, they were going to crown Jesus King, but he was able to discern that it was a mere distraction, so he walked on water to outrun them.( John 6:12-21). Be guided! If it looks like the promise, it is not the promise.
Waiting is not fun, there’s always that uncertainty feeling that want to steal your breath and that I can do somethings by myself, why do I have to wait this long when I can make somethings happen? But remember that ‘but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.(Isaiah 40:31) .This feeling happens a lot when you are waiting on God’s promise, the doubts in your heart that makes it feel like God has forgotten about you. God is always mindful of you and even though it’s not fun to wait on God, wait regardless. Wait in Faith, Keep the promise in sight. Rejoice as though you have the promise. In the next post, I will be writing about things to do and not do while expecting the fulfillment of God’s promise for you.
